How to build a reading list with RSS feeds

A practical way to find sources, follow their feeds and keep a manageable reading routine in FetchFeeds.

Start with sources, not a wall of headlines

Choose a small set of publications you already trust and a few sources you want to understand better. A feed is a publisher’s stream of articles or episodes. Following the feed lets you return to that source without remembering to check its homepage. Begin with five to ten sources: a reading list you can actually review is more useful than hundreds of subscriptions you never open.

Find a feed in FetchFeeds

Open Channels to browse sources, or use search to look for an article or topic you know. Open a source’s channel page to review its recent items before following it. Check the publication name and the original-source link rather than relying only on a headline. Use the language selector when you want to discover coverage in another language.

Save sources and individual stories

Sign in to keep your reading selections in your dashboard. Following a channel and saving an article solve different problems: channels help you return to a source, while saved stories give you a short reading queue. Keep that queue limited to pieces you genuinely intend to read. For a long article, save it first and open the original publisher when you have time.

Read with context

FetchFeeds presents information supplied through feeds and links to the original publication. Excerpts can omit corrections, supporting evidence, images or later updates. For reporting you plan to cite, financial decisions, or anything where wording matters, open the original and verify the date and context. A feed reader is a discovery tool, not a substitute for checking the source.

Make the routine sustainable

Set aside a short reading window and remove sources that repeatedly add little value. Balance fast news with deeper explanations and perspectives that differ from your own. Review your saved queue once a week. If you find yourself collecting more than you read, reduce subscriptions before adding another tool or notification.
